Our popular family heritage programs, First Families of Tennessee and Civil War Families of Tennessee help us record the story of Tennessee-- one family at a time. Thousands of descendants of Tennessee's 18th-century pioneers and 19th-century Civil War participants have illustrated pride in their families' role in Tennessee's grand history by recording and preserving important documents and family histories within these programs. Researchers for generations to come will enjoy the opportunity to use the First Families of Tennessee and Civil War Families of Tennessee files to learn about family life in Tennessee and find their connection to Volunteer State history. Follow the links on the left sidebar to find out more about these programs and how you can honor your ancestors through First Families of Tennessee and Civil War Families of Tennessee.
No matter what level of expertise you have in genealogy, from basic beginner to advanced researcher, ETHS offers a variety of lectures, workshops, and conferences throughout the year to help you expand and enhance your skill level. Whether your interest is in a specialized topic such as finding a Civil War ancestor or researching land records, or if you just want to learn how to get started, you'll find a program to suit your needs. And age is no issue either. We believe you're never too young to start preserving your family's stories and offer children's programs on genealogy, too. Be sure to check out the links on the left sidebar to find out more information about our geneaalogy workshops and conference, lectures, as well as our summer program for children.
More information about our genealogy publications and other genealogy and research programs and activities here at the East Tennessee History Center can be found in our "Genealogy & Research" section of this web site.
