It's not just a day . . . It's an experience The National History Day Contest National History Day is a highly regarded and academically challenging history program. This educational contest fosters academic achievement and intellectual growth. In addition to acquiring useful historical knowledge and perspective during the series of district, state, and national competitions, students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills that will help them manage and use information now and in the future. National History Day participation is truly an experience that lasts a lifetime.


National History Day Contest Themes (subject to change)
2008--Conflict and Compromise In History
East Tennessee students will compete in the district East Tennessee History Day competition held on March 3, 2008. Teacher and student workshops are held during the fall term. For more information on these workshops, please contact ETHS. The winners from the district competition will go on to compete in the Tennessee History Day competition in March/April. The state competition is held in Memphis, Tennessee. State winners continue to College Park, Maryland and the National History Day events in June.
