2010 East Tennessee History Day Winners
Please click here for a listing of the winners from the 2010 East Tennessee History Day competition held on March 1 at the Carolyn P. Brown University Center on the University of Tennessee campus. Those posted are 1st, 2nd, 3rd places which advance to Tennessee History Day (April 17, 2010 in Nashville on Legislative Plaza).
The East Tennessee Historical Society and University of Tennessee Deparment of History co-sponsor this district competition of Tennessee History Day, state affiliate of National History Day.
East Tennessee History Day Scholarships Sponsored by Jenny and Randy Boyd
Thanks to the generous support of Jenny and Randy Boyd, ETHS is able to offer three new scholarships to senior level East Tennessee History Day winners in 2010.
High school students who placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place at East Tennessee History Day with a project on an East Tennessee topic which utilizes quality primary sources are eligible to apply for the East Tennessee History Day Scholarship. There will be a first place scholarship awarded for $3,000 and a second place awarded for $2,000. Click here for more information on this scholarship.
High school students who placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place at East Tennessee History Day with a project on East Tennessee Business or Technology are eligible for the scholarship by the same title. A scholarship in the amount of $2,000 will be awarded to the winner. Click here for more informaiton on this scholarship.

In addition to acquiring useful historical knowledge and perspective during the series of district, state, and national competitions, students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills that will help them manage and use information now and in the future. 2010 Innovation in History: Impact and Change
East Tennessee students will compete in the district East Tennessee History Day competition held on March 1, 2010. Teacher and student workshops are held during the fall term. For more information on these workshops, please contact ETHS. The winners from the district competition will go on to compete in the Tennessee History Day competition in April. The state competition is held in Nashville, Tennessee. State winners continue to College Park, Maryland and the National History Day events in June.
