History at Home:  2010 Summer Teacher Seminars

2-Day Drive-In Summer Seminars for Teachers and Local History Organizations

In June and July of 2010, The East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) will offer a series of two-day teacher seminars hosted throughout East Tennessee. These mini-institutes will feature historians covering a variety of Tennessee history topics (relative to the host area’s local stories), as well as highlight local resources that can be helpful in teaching Tennessee history in the classroom and through field trips.  K-12 teachers are invited to register for the History at Home seminar closest to them—or carpool to explore a new area of East Tennessee and its “History at Home.”   Local history groups interested in working with students and teachers are invited to share what they have to offer during the seminar. 

These seminars are funded in part through a grant from Humanities Tennessee, an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
