Guidelines for Submissions
The Journal of East Tennessee History seeks to promote an interest in and appreciation of not only the history of East Tennessee but also that of the state of Tennessee, the Southern Appalachians, and the South in general.
Authors are invited to submit original essays or edited documents which relate to these topics. Please observe the following guidelines.

Manuscripts should be double-spaced, including footnotes and indented quotations.

The standard length for manuscripts is 25-35 pages.

The author's name should appear only on a separate title page.

Photocopies of recommended illustrations, maps, etc. may be included.

Footnotes should appear at the end of the text.

Footnote form and other matters of style should conform to The Chicago Manual of Style.

Use the American style for dates (June 1, 1796) rather than military style (1 June 1796).

Do not use op. cit., loc. cit., or passim.

Please submit two copies of the manuscript.

All manuscripts will be reviewed by JETH staff. Those that warrant further consideration will be sent to outside readers for critique.
